EUCINE IN SHILAJIT
In light of recent events, them being our full and complete laboratory analysis of shilajit, which came after much anticipation. After all, there are almost none (if any) Shilajit products out there that actually offer a full insight into what makes it so special. Now, keep in mind that certain components like DCP’s and DBP’s are not included in the report, but we wrote about them here nonetheless. And because Shilajit actually contains quite a few more amino acids, we thought we could look into another one today. After all, these are very important, and learning more about them should be a must for each individual. So, let’s get to it?
QUICK INTRODUCTION
Okay, so first of all, what are amino acids? Amino acids are organic compounds that combine to form proteins. Amino acids and proteins are the building blocks of life. When proteins are digested or broken down, amino acids are left. Leucine is one of the three branched-chain amino acids and sometimes referred to as the ‘main’ amino acid due to the most popular benefit of BCAAs (muscle building) being mostly due to leucine. The studies assessing leucine mostly look at muscle protein synthesis when additional leucine is added to the diet or to a test meal, and it appears that leucine is able to reliably increase muscle protein synthesis after test meals. Whether this results in more lean mass over a period of time is somewhat less reliable though, and leucine appears to be more effective at promoting gains in muscle in people with lower dietary protein intake and in the elderly (who tend to have impaired muscle protein synthesis in response to the diet).
Why You Need Leucine?
Leucine performs a number of functions in the body. It helps to regulate blood sugar, improves wound healing, and produces growth hormones. Leucine may help muscles recover after strenuous use. In one study of highly fit cyclists, taking leucine after a workout enhanced their speed the next day. They also reported less overall tiredness. Now, the majority of us don’t train 365 days a year. It’s natural (and necessary) to have periods away from training — whether attributed to injury, illness, or simply giving your body a rest. During these recovery periods, we want to avoid losing the muscle mass that took months of hard work to build. Luckily, leucine could help us out here.
Leucine has also been shown to improve strength in older adults, especially those with sarcopenia (muscle loss). Sometimes exercise enhanced the benefit. In one study, older men increased their synthesis of protein even though they were not deficient. You lose muscle mass when you’re in a state of negative nitrogen balance – this is when muscle breakdown is greater than muscle building. Research shows that leucine is capable of preventing muscle breakdown. We’re more susceptible to inactivity and muscle loss as we age, so one research group targeted middle-aged adults. During a week of bed rest, consuming 13g of leucine each day not only reduced the loss of mass, it also prevented gains of body fat, which would be expected following reduced energy expenditure.9 We’re not exactly sure yet how leucine helps us hang onto muscle mass – scientists are still working on this one.
Leucine seems to play a role in weight control. In animal studies, leucine supplements increased the response to leptin, a hormone that regulates appetite. Some researchers believe that the success of high-protein diets may be due in part to the role of leucine in regulating blood glucose.
LEUCINE IN SHILAJIT
As you can see, leucine-rich Shilajit is actually known for preventing muscle loss, easier weight control and helping achieve better sports results. Our customers report much better endurance, faster recovery, and overall better performance. In essence, during muscle training of any kind, muscle fibers in our bodies get ‘’ damaged’’ and then healed again overnight which results in muscle growth. While this is a perfectly normal and natural way of growing, it also means that without proper nutrition that would supply us with everything needed to heal, there won’t be any actual progress. After all, there’s just so much we can stand every day without falling apart. This would be one of the reasons we would recommend Shilajit to everybody, from seniors to young people. Because we’re not talking just about healing the symptoms but rather preventing muscle degradation and keeping fit and healthy from the start. Mumio Shilajit offers not only a healthier alternative but a much better and satisfying lifestyle, which has proved numerous times to be the only true alternative for happiness, healthy, and overall better well-being.
